Why wasn't I taught about the Hanoi Hilton in highschool?

We covered the Vietnam War my tenth grade World History cl and my 11th grade American history cl. Why did the teachers breeze over the whole POW situation? I don't recall learning anything about POWs at all. Mostly, I remember learning about the demonstrations on college campuses.
