Should I underline or italicize the title of my essay?

it's a shortish essay (about 1000 words) and i was just wondering if i italicize the title of my essay or underline? it's about the lord of the flies. in the actual essay i know i'm supposed to italicize the names of books, but what do i do for my own title for the essay that i made up? thanks!
