Is it against the law to park in front of a driveway leading to a small garage if curb is not dropped?

A street with rows of terraces. Some have parking ares off road for 1 car and have dropped curbs. There is very limited parking and sometimes I am forced to park outside a house that has a small garage/access attached but does not have a dropped curb. The homeowner keeps leaving notes to drivers asking to leave space clear. A sign has also been placed on the garage door warning cars not to use the space on the road. So basically, do I have a legal right to leave my car in space outside the property?
