HUGE GRIPTAPE PROBLEM! HELP please!!!!!!!?

I just got my first non walmart skateboard. I love it. It rolls real well and looks cool. One problem: THE GRIPTAPE HATES ME! It is super coarse. It is MOB Griptape. I can't slide my foot to ollie (which I'm bad enough at already) and I don't know what to do! Can I un coarseify it or do I need new griptape? If it is that I need new griptape what kind do I buy and how do I switch it with what I have already?
